The Chelsea Savings Bank evolved into Burg’s Drug Store before becoming its current incarnation, the much-loved Zou Zou’s Cafe.

In this ca. 1910 photograph, Chelsea residents are busy as they go about their banking business at the Chelsea Savings Bank on the corner of Main and Middle Streets. Ostensibly, the gentlemen pictured are shareholders in the bank to be featured in a photograph of this nature. (2007-286)

In September of 2010, the old bank building looks very similar to the way it did one hundred years ago. The Italianate features of the architecture are still intact; the changes are largely cosmetic: a few more trees, the fire escape has been torn down, and signange has been added to the exterior of the building.
